Article 31 of the Iraqi Constitution, drafted by the Bush administration in 2005 and ratified by the Iraqi people, includes state-guaranteed (single payer) healthcare for life for every Iraqi citizen. Article 31 reads:
"First: Every citizen has the right to health care. The State shall maintain public health and provide the means of prevention and treatment by building different types of hospitals and health institutions.
The Bush administration's top health-care official defended the $950 million that will be spent to help Iraq establish universal health care. Congressional Democrats have criticized the administration for helping Iraq to establish universal health care without doing the same for U.S. citizens.
We need comprehensive HC reform with a new paradigm, not our current "sickness system" for those fortunate enough to have it. ....it's not too late to repeal Obombacare & pass HR 676 which is Medicare & Medicaid for anyone who needs it & applies, a voluntary program costing 341 billion less than Obombacare as private insurance companies kill 15 of their policy holders a day denying them live saving medicine, so it is a great mistake to reward the problem with extra money for executive compensation & stock values that give not one pill or treatment, overhead on Medicaid Medicare is 2 per cent while overhead on the existing system is well over 40 per cent, tv commercials, propaganda & salaries to run authorization personnel who are the ones who won't fund life saving care for policy holders....President Obama can win popular re-election by doing the right thing, but telling more lies for the banks & insurance companies & war profiteers causes a break down in the Democratic Party & only benefits only Wall Street & Rethuglicans/Teabaggers keeping Dems vulnerable instead of strong liberals for justice, peace & economic fairness for all families
